Butterflies and Moths (15): Peacock Butterfly

It was good to see a number of Peacock butterflies in Yorkshire last week.

We saw Peacocks (alas, not wild ones!) at Nunnington Hall on our travels.

I thought it would be interesting to see the two pictures together ...

yes maybe the peacock feather design is what the butterfly mimic as its own, haha! They think it will deter their predators from harming them!

I think this is going to be a great year for butterflies. This time last year I didn't even see butterflies but so far this year all I am seeing are Peacocks all over the place. I love their colours.
