The shortest day, and I took this sunset-like photo after lunch at 2.15 pm - a very strange light |
One of the Starlings: look at his hooked claw! |
The intricacies of ice: hoar frost on a leaf |
Starling Roost |
Sunrise Colours |
Sunrise over Mumbles |
Jack Frost Patterns |
'Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird . . .' Eleanor Farjeon |
Feathery Trees . . . |
Wales, a Winter Wonderland |
Icicles! |
A welcome Song Thrush . . . |
The scene from Swansea, looking towards Mumbles, and across the Severn Estuary to the snowy hills of Exmoor |
A Chaffinch - we have two who like to sit in this Larch |
The poor spider! |
Surreal snowbound Swansea! It's rare to have snow on the beach . . . * I hope you like my miscellany of winter scenes on this, the shortest day of the year! You might enjoy this winter poem by Robert Frost.

These photos are so beautiful Caroline especially seeing the shoreline covered in snow. Wrexham and further east looks as if it is going to get a pasting tommorrow.
ReplyDeleteThankyou for linking to my eclipse photographs. :)
all of your pictures are beautiful. i'm sure snow on the beach is a sight. we had some starlings in large numbers several years ago but i don't see them now. i don't know what happened. hope all is well your way. have a great night.
ReplyDeletelovely series of wintry photos, Caroline! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteWow...you have some great shots here! I love all those frost patterns...on the leaf and the other. The icicle photo with bird..wonderful! Even the Starling...lets me know we share a common bird at this time of year. The scenery is beautiful! Love that sunrise...so gorgeous. I probably left something out, but these were great!
